Purple Items without mods?
Hmm, I've been getting quite a few of these purple items (3 days ago) without any mods, or it's already identified right off the bat (when it drops).. I was wondering if I should sell it to the vendors? or try expert salvaging it for some rare crafting mats?

I looted a purple Mace. Identified it, all I got was "Precious". I tried comparing it with other people's Maces, there wasn't any difference whatsoever!
I also looted some Purple salvagable armor! I salvaged it, and I got 1 Steel Ignot from it! WTF? I don't think Purple means anything in Guild Wars! In World of Warcraft, Purple was the color for Unique and uber rare items! In GW, it probably means it's crap and get rid of it right away! Total opposite of other MMORPGs. |

Purple is more rare than white or blue, but not the rarest. And you have a CHANCE of getting something uncommon out of any item, regardless of color/rarity, your chances just get better with more rare items. And a steel ingot is not a bad find, they sell for quite a bit.

I got a pretty nice gold staff once. Made me wish I was a necro/ele. reduced casting time on fire/air spells or something along those lines, +22hp, +4 armor, and +9 energy. Of course I screwed it up when I tried to add a +energy staff part to it, and didn't know which enchantment I would be replacing /=. Need to fix it one day or find something better now.

Precuious means it sells for more gold then normal maces.. and purples usually have a mod, though I got a purple shaman garb and got a linen square upon salvaging. |

Found a purple axe last night. It was great damage, but nothing else.
Found a purple Fiery Horn Bow last night too. 13-24 Fire Damage. I kept that for my ranger... |

Hmm, so the salvaging chances of getting something rare are pretty low huh? I guess I'll sell these off to the vendor then. Not worth getting 5-10 uncommon crap that sells for less then 50g.

I think purple items are either bugged or, if working as intended, crap. Note that EVERY blue item has at least one mod, and while purple items are supposed to be higher quality (and have a small percentage chance of being so), they usually turn up nothing.
